He leads a band of outlaws to fight the Sherrif and help the people of Nottingham, all whilst falling in love again with his ex-finance Marian. I love the legends, and have enjoyed every version from Douglas Fairbanks to Patrick Bergin, so I was looking forward to this new series with excitement.<br/><br/>Before the first episode, I had read that people who&#39;d seen previews were not impressed, so my expectations took a knock. However, I really enjoyed it! I&#39;ll agree that the first 10 minutes were a bit ropey, and I was worried. But I stuck with it, and it definitely improved. All these comments about make up? I guess that stuff just doesn&#39;t register with me. The acting was just fine, the locations looked good, I wasn&#39;t overkeen on some of the camera tricks, jump edits &amp; stuff, but that didn&#39;t detract.<br/><br/>Overall it was good, rollicking fun! Which is all I want from Robin Hood! For goodness sake, it ain&#39;t some sacred text!!<br/><br/>oh, and referring to Robin of Sherwoodthe benchmark? hee hee!! I grew up with that series, and adored it. but have you tried to sit through an episode more recently? Just too painful. To be honest with you, I have not seen such an amazing character since Alfie. And by amazing, somewhat boyish, romantic, a dreamer and a daring individual, yet manly cunning and responsible. A true combination of youth and experience.<br/><br/>I must agree with others that it is not at all in accord with the legend. Especially since I am big on history, this was a problem for me at the beginning. But then I realized it was being broadcast on a kids&#39; channel in my country. At the time when most parents bring their kids to sleep, too. Soa business move, I have to say it&#39;s perfect. It gets you,a parent, interested, and the children will love it.<br/><br/>Then end is not what I had hoped for. Swazi not being dead, and the siege part, was completely silly. Robin was not a tactician of an organized military unit, with a well-placed fortification defensive strategy in mind. He was, in essence, a common thief, only with the valor of a gentleman. Which he was until the last couple of episodes.<br/><br/>And then, the way he dies. DIES! Robin is not supposed to die. At least not following the whole scenario that preceded it. And definitely not in that way. It would be a better ending if he were bitten by a snake when hunting in the woods.<br/><br/>BUT, I loved the joke and that face that always had a smile on it. ALWAYS. Never once does he get down. That is how I always thought of Robin. When all are furious, or devastated, he has a plan. And no matter how daring and foolish, he&#39;s going to go with it.<br/><br/>All in all, good stuff. Loved it.
