&quot;Banlieue 13&quot; was one of the best surprises I had in 2004. This movie is pure adrenaline; actually one of the best action movies that I have recently seen. The greatest attractions are the performances of David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli. David Belle is co-inventor of the sport known as Parkour, &quot;which consists of moving freely in a natural area, including climbing on buildings and taking on whatever is in the way&quot;. Cyril Raffaelli is also stunt coordinator and stunt. Together, they are awesome, with amazing choreography that recalls Jackie Chan when he was young. The direction and the story are also good, hooking the attention until the very last scene. <br/><br/>&quot;Brick Mansions&quot; is a bad remake or &quot;copy-paste&quot; and a poor legacy of Paul Walker&#39;s filmography. Faced with a story that doesn't make much sense, the filmmakers switch gears and try for a sociological statement - something about the marginalized and the neglected. This makes for a funny last five minutes, but sad, too, because Walker was better than this, even if his movies sometimes weren't.
Both versions differ severely. For instance, the Extended Cut contains an entirely new soundtrack, David Belle has a different voice - at least that is the case in the English audio track - but he always has a French accent. A lot of the single scenes are recut and often have an alternate order. Some story details are altered, as well. And of course, violence is added to the Extended Cut which was probably removed from the Theatrical Version in order to get the PG-13 rating.
